buying ergonomic tablet arms/should i upload backgrounds?

I've deleted my facebook account and i've been thinking lately about taking down my deviantart as well. at the moment it does have more of my art than on NG in the scraps section, so i'm mulling over whether to close the account and leave as is or upload a surge of my old work to my page.. & if i do, i'd probably be tempted not to make them all publicly viewable in the portal so there's not a block of recycled thumbnails taking a day. what i wonder is - do non-public art portal entries appear in people's follow feeds?

man, these are really things i ought to know.

i have been sketching more lately, to offset the backgrounds i've been doing for Harry digitally, haven't uploaded any yet as i'm trying to fill out my sketchbook for pico day, after that date then i might upload some raw pages. my digital work interface still sucks for using, For people here that feel their main focus in art is static illustration, what does your desk setup look like? at the moment i have a medium bamboo fun i use with photoshop CS5, on a macbook pro.

my main issue is the lack of being able for me to lean in close to see detail on a digital drawing, and freely rotate the image to accomodate my wrist movements, so i ask- does anyone use this setup? i know cintiqs are widely used by people here, but do people bother chipping in for desk arm to mount it, and have they found it to greatly improve their comfort + longevity with using the cintiq?

not much in other news. I'm heading back to Georgia in mid-april for about 3 weeks, en route to philly for Pico Day. Harry's asked if i'd ever want to start uploading backgrounds i color from his cartoons, what do you guys think?

I got no comment on the cintiqs. As I don't use tablets to draw... though I may wanna try one in future. But I do have a comment about your art. I checked them out. Bizarre. And awesome. Me gusta.

pixel art must be tough with no pen. i tried my hand at it properly for the first time a couple of days ago and it was hard enough with my set up. i found pixel art to be pretty boss tho'

I guess for your first question about non-public art portal entires being able to show up on peoples follow feeds. Yes, they should.

And about the ergo-cintiq thing, assuming your preferred comfort in drawing, I'd say go for it! I think cintiqs are nice although I want the 13"HD, maybe the companion so I can draw wherever I go, but I haven't decided yet. Currently I have a Bamboo with Photoshop CC on a Macbook Pro, unfortunately cause I'm so busy with school, I haven't been able to actually make digital work with these mediums. All of my previous digital work was done either on my iPad 2 or on Illustrator CC or Photoshop CC with a mouse.....Anyways, I personally don't mind getting the smaller Cintiq cause I've worked on an iPad before. But you seem to want a bigger screen and be able to move it around as you draw so I'd say go for it Sucho. I hope that answered at least one of your questions.

how is an ipad? i do tend to like bigger surfaces so i can expand a drawing if i like, but honestly the pick-up-and-go is probably my bigger issue. its hard to work as brisk as i like if i can't freely move the display, and an ipad does seem like a more cost-effective treatment for that. i take it there are pen peripherals for ipad programs, and does photoshop work on it?
i'm dense with what ipads can do, last pda i had used a green + black lcd screen.

i will have a good look then and see what good ones i can find! unfortunately many i have to rush so the cartoon makes it out the door in time, but there's a couple nice splashy ones i could probably upload.

As far as a drawing setup, Scott Kurtz at PvPonline.com has given his 2 cents for Cintiq tablets, and he LOVES his 13" HD. He also loves the online art community, and loves spreading wisdom and knowledge whenever he can. He might be willing to talk with you about your own setup.

If you don't mind drawing on a flat surface, I'm sure you could mount it on a lazy susan kinda thing, built into a table, have a brass locking latch at either end... plenty easy engineering things, if you crave comfortable working conditions.

I'd love to see the backgrounds, of course... are they on Harry's site? Also, will he be attending as well? Last lame question: will you be bringing clay to the party? That would be rad....

Yeah, non-public art posts show up on your fans' feeds... just do one a day, and they'll all be up in no time. One a day is hardly spam :)

its more that with my eyes, i tend to want to pull my drawing pad up close and personal for some details, as well as rotating for strokes. its a good idea, although i don't own the desks we're using (renters) and weirdly i've been looking up lazy susans for other reasons over here, and they're stupidly pricey for what you get. dont know why that still surprises me in the UK.

the backgrounds aren't posted/saved anywhere which is why i haven't made good on the promise of upload yet - i'm waiting for Harry to get a breather between projects so he can help me with extracting them from his cartoons. i've got a small list, but if people don't balk at them, i'll be open to putting up requests.

as of the moment we're both planning on going! here's fingers crossed that ad revenue $$$ post-income tax feel the same way :X

Oh crap, I forgot about that tax BS! I don't think it's in the NG Wiki... wonder if Tom could post an IRS link or something :p It's a shame we plebiscites can't donate our NG ad-rev, to offset the tax burden for the artists here, or even if it's possible.

How about a narrow drawing desk (adjustable angle)? I half feel like I should sketch a few things out that might work... lol, maybe I'll make one up, throw it in back of the truck, you can try it out at the party!

haha, aww. don't trouble yourself. tbh i'll probably always fall under the category of hand-me-down tablets, and the next time harry gets one it means i get a cintiq which aint too shabby.
